Vision for the Future - Inclusive Fashion

Globally, there is an estimated 1 billion people who suffer from various degrees of visual impairment. For these people, there is an extremely limited selection of garments that caters to their abilities, leading to issues with distinguishing e.g. the style and colour of garments. .

With the overarching theme of “Radical Inclusivity”, the aim of this project was to create a set of products that could be enjoyed without having to see them. The design process involved lots of tests regarding the tactical qualities of knit and crochet fabric, exploring ways to create textures thatbare both texturally interesting and pleasant to wear

The final prototype is a result of texture manipulation and layering. Several thicknesses of yarn were used to achieve variation of textures within the same garment. This helped create an end product that is both comfortable to wear as well as interesting visually, and, most importantly for the intended user, texturally.
